Bob said as much in his informal "report to the listeners" given on Wednesday at 2pm, the day before he was fired, in which he laid out his vision for the station, and said in regard to premiums: "We were in a place of such crisis that we'd get a windfall of money and we'd throw it all into operations and not hold money back to honor the premiums."

I'll reserve further comment until we hear from Gary Null, who announced today: "On Monday evening at 8pm, following the Progressive Commentary Hour which is on at 7pm, I will be doing a one-hour discussion, open with calls, on the topic of why I'm not on WBAI, KPFK or WPFW. And at that time I will relate everything that I know, so that people will have a clear, honest and informed understanding of what has not been allowed to be discussed, and why I was taken off without debate or discussion from the stations."
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2082497242956776294.post-70449236047994125212014-02-14T16:10:29.987-05:002014-02-14T16:10:29.987-05:00Mr. Reimers must have misspoken: There was a delay...Mr. Reimers must have misspoken: There was a delay in getting out Gary Null’s premiums, because BAI had no money to pay for them (out of pocket, I guess), and if the trend would have continued, BAI would have been criminally liable for fraud. Hence the parting of ways between Null and Pacifica. Do prove me wrong!

I am glad that Mr. Reimers is using his expertise to lead a team of professionals in forging a multi-faceted approach to raise the much needed funds for BAI via the Internet, non-profit funding, and community outreach. Only thing I don’t understand is, why hasn’t this been done before, say in the early 1990’s when financial concerns first arose, or when he first became the GM.

I did not agree with most of what Hennelly did with the station, but he was a competent journalist, though his show was pretty horny. The reason he was fired, it seems to me (other than union dues not ending up in BAI and Pacifica’s coffers), was that Hennelly inadvertently mentioned that the emperor has no clothes.
Brooser Bearhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08487438364129415650noreply@blogger.com
